We’re looking to expand our team to make reading more accessible and popular! We welcome students from any faculty and background to join our Publicity, Editorial and Programmes teams, but we do ask for one thing – that our applicants share the same love for books as we do!

Publicity member

As a publicity member, you’ll contribute to and develop integrated marketing campaigns to promote the activities of ReadNUS. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualise  and  produce publicity  materials  (e.g. newsletter designs, social media, website) of  ReadNUS to maximise reach and engagement
  • Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns to promote our key events, including Kopi Talks and Book Club
  • Develop the online presence of the club, including growing our social media and website
  • Enhance the visibility of our key publication, Literary Journal, through our website and social media
  • Familiarity with Mailchimp/Wordpress/Facebook Adcentre is advantageous.

Programmes Co-Director

The Programmes co-director coordinates and assists with the planning and execution of external ReadNUS events, ensuring the smooth organisation of team activities and planning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Communicate, split tasks, and collaborate with the rest of the Programmes Director team
    • Decide and pursue goals for the growth of the ReadNUS programmes events harmonised with the overall ReadNUS mission and goals
    • Work together and coordinate with the ReadNUS directors team to improve, grow and integrate the ReadNUS community
    • Overseeing of programmes events planning including Book Clubs, Book Chats, and Kopi Talks
    • Coordinate Programme team members together with the rest of the Programmes Director team. 
    • Actively attend ReadNUS events
  • Plan and execute other ad-hoc events – both digitally and in-person, in partnership with NUS Libraries and other partners of ReadNUS.

Programmes member

The Programmes Member assists with the planning and execution of ReadNUS programmes, ensuring that participants feel satisfied with the flow and content of our activities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and operate external events (such as Book Clubs, Book Chats, and Kopi Talks) and internal events (such as bonding sessions)
    • Planning and operating of monthly Book Club entails preparing materials for analysis, facilitating discussions on a selected text
    • Planning and operating Kopi Talks entails inviting panel speakers, moderation, and preparation of panel discussions
    • Planning and operating Book Chats entails preparation and execution of weekly events focused on community building
    • Planning of internal events includes the planning of bonding sessions and ensure the overall wellbeing of ReadNUS members 
  • Plan and execute other ad-hoc events – both digitally and in-person, in partnership with NUS Libraries and other partners of ReadNUS.
Editorial

Editorial Director

As an editorial director, you’ll lead a group of editorial members in contributing articles to the ReadNUS literary journal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee literary journal, curating monthly themes and coordinating with publicity team to ensure consistency
  • Edit and write articles, ranging from book reviews to lifestyle articles and news
  • Attend and promote our key events, including Kopi Talks and Book Club

Editorial Member

As an editorial member, you’ll contribute articles to the ReadNUS literary journal. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pitch and write articles, ranging from book reviews to lifestyle articles and news (3 per semester)
  • Produce copywriting materials to accompany articles
  • Attend and promote our key events, including Kopi Talks and Book Club
Welfare

Welfare

Welfare Director

The Welfare Director coordinates the planning and execution of internal ReadNUS events, ensuring there are avenues for bonding among ReadNUS members. The Welfare Director is part of the Programmes Director Team. 

Key responsibilities

  • Align welfare and programmes events and work together tightly with Programmes directors
    • Coordinate ReadNUS programmes team members and welfare events
  • Oversee welfare event organisation including annual appreciation event, and other events which further the bonding across different ReadNUS teams (publicity, editorial, programmes)
    • Communicate with NUSPA on budget questions
    • Actively attend ReadNUS events
  • Long term strategic thinking about how cross-team bonding and integration can be improved in harmonisation with the overall ReadNUS goals

Welfare Team Member

The Welfare Team Member assists with the planning and execution of ReadNUS internal club events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and operate ReadNUS’s internal events, such as bonding sessions.
  • Ensure the wellbeing of ReadNUS members through regular check-ins with ReadNUS members.
  • Plan and execute other ad-hoc events with the Programmes Team – both digitally and in-person when required.

Treasurer

The treasurer will manage and oversee the finances of ReadNUS.  A meticulous and organised individual will thrive in this role. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate and allocate budget for the different events organised by ReadNUS
  • Work closely with the directors team to ensure that funds are used efficiently
